About Built On The Rock

Helping Our Community From Our Little Corner

Welcome to Built On The Rock, a community little library and resource center. Thank you for coming to the website to learn more about us.

We began this library hoping to exclusively provide faith-based content to our community but after a couple of years experience we have learned that this little library needs to provide more comprehensive content. As we met our patrons and learned their stories we discovered that the needs of our community are more multifaceted and we felt that as long as we stayed grounded in our faith (built on the rock) and continued to provide faith-based content along with so much more, we could open up our content to provide for the needs of more people.

This little library has a big mission.

While we welcome and stock donations of new and gently used books of all kinds from our community (please leave them in the library or on the front porch to protect them from the elements), we, as the stewards, try to put a little content in the library that is grounded and that many of our patrons come here for specifically. Books that:

  • are faith based
  • teach kids good manners, values and morals
  • are mental health related

and other things along those lines. These are subjects that are important to us to pass along.

We try to be a wholesome little library space for our community.

As patrons, it is important for you to note that we are not affiliated with a particular church in town or any organization and we are not professionals in the mental health field. This library is simply a place to come to find inspiration or even some help in troubled times.

The content changes constantly because visitors stop by and select books to read but we also try to completely change the stock once a week so that it cycles through. We do this so that if you stop by regularly, you will find something new pretty often.

If you are blessed enough to find one of our sticker or activity books for kids or a prayer/self-help journal or coloring book for grown-ups, these are gifts you are welcome to take and keep. Really, you may keep any book if you love it though we encourage you to give back to others by bringing a book or two that our community would benefit from as a donation to the library. It would be a way to help us keep this up and running.

All are welcome!

Help Us Supply The Library With Books And Resources

What do we do with your generous donation?

Your financial gift goes towards helping us keep the library stocked. Book prices have skyrocketed and while we try to buy used books, on occasion we need to buy new ones because something we want to supply isn't available as a used book.

We appreciate any sized donation.

Our Library Is Dedicated To Someone Very Special

Honoring Mona

Our library is dedicated to our beautiful niece, Mona Saeed  who we lost to suicide on 05 August 2023.

Mona was an incredible young woman who had a strong faith in God and wanted to minister to others and bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Sadly she also lived with bipolar disorder and she fought valiantly against this insidious mental illness and it shattered our hearts when she lost the battle. It is for that reason that we value mental health awareness and supply our library with resources for people living with the same or similar challenges. No one should have to fight this battle alone.

In honor of Mona, part of this library's mission is to provide a place for anyone struggling with the trials of this world and who are looking for a little light in the darkness.

This is a place Mona would have loved and been a steward of. Part of her life's work was to care for preschool kids and we know how much she would have loved every little one who stops by our library.

We deeply miss this beautiful soul who brought so much light to this world and to our lives.

It is our prayer that her memory lives on through this library.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
