Welcome to Built On The Rock, a community little library. Thank you for coming to the website to learn more about us.
We began this library hoping to exclusively provide faith-based content to our community but after a couple of years experience we have learned that this little library needs to provide more comprehensive content. As we met our patrons and learned their stories we discovered that the needs of our community are more multifaceted and we felt that as long as we stayed grounded in our faith, we could open up content to provide for their needs.
This little library has a big mission.
While we welcome donations of new and gently used books from our community, we, as the stewards, try to put content in the library that is grounded and that many of our patrons come here for specifically. Books that:
- are faith based
- teach kids good manners, values and morals
- are mental health related
and other things along those lines. These are subjects that are important to us to pass along.
We try to be a wholesome little library space for our community.
As patrons, it is important for you to note that we are not affiliated with a particular church in town or any organization and we are not professionals in the mental health field. This library is simply a place to come to find inspiration or even some help in troubled times.
The content changes constantly because visitors stop by and select books to read but we also try to completely change the stock once a week so that it cycles through. We do this so that if you stop by regularly, you will find something new pretty often.
If you are blessed enough to find one of our sticker or activity books for kids or a prayer/self-help journal or coloring book for grown-ups, these are gifts you are welcome to take and keep. Really, you may keep any book if you love it though we encourage you to give back to others by bringing a book or two that our community would benefit from as a donation to the library. It would be a way to help us keep this up and running.
All are welcome!
